AI Integration in Cyprus: Where Businesses Actually Start
AI integration in Cyprus usually starts with a simple question from a business owner: everyone talks about AI, so where do we actually use it? Buying a subscription to an AI tool is easy. Integrating AI means connecting it to your website, your inbox, your CRM or your messaging channels, so it does real work inside processes you already run. This guide covers where most businesses start, what to prepare, which rules apply, and how to tell whether it is working.
Start With a Process, Not a Model
The most common mistake is starting with the technology: choosing a model, comparing chatbots, testing prompts. A better starting point is a process that already costs your team time every week.
A good first candidate has three qualities: it repeats often, it follows a recognisable pattern, and a mistake is easy to spot and correct. Answering the same questions from website visitors fits. Approving a contract does not.
Write down how the process works today, how often it happens, and who handles it. That description becomes the brief for any AI integration, whoever builds it.
Four Places Most Businesses Start
1. A Website Assistant That Answers From Your Own Content
An assistant trained on your website, FAQs and service descriptions can answer routine questions at any hour and hand complex ones to a person. We run one on our own site: it answers questions about our services, portfolio and pricing using the content already published there, and it introduces itself as an AI assistant in the first message. The key is to restrict the assistant to your own material, so it does not invent answers. Our article on chatbot integration mistakes covers what usually goes wrong.
2. Lead Qualification in Telegram or WhatsApp
Some clients would rather send a message than fill in a contact form. A bot can ask the first qualifying questions, such as what the project is, when it needs to start and how to get in touch, and then pass a complete summary to your team. We built this for our own leads in Telegram: the bot holds the conversation, collects the details and sends finished leads to a team chat.

3. Inbox and Document Processing
AI can sort incoming emails, extract key fields from documents such as invoices or application forms, and draft replies for a person to review. This works best where the volume is high and the format repeats.
4. CRM Enrichment and Routing
When a lead arrives, AI can summarise the conversation, tag the type of request and route it to the right person. This only helps if the website and the CRM are already connected, which we explain in the website-to-CRM gap.
What to Prepare Before You Build
- Source material. An assistant is only as good as what it reads. Update your FAQs, service pages and internal documents first, and remove anything outdated.
- Access. Decide which systems the AI may read from and write to, and give it only the access it needs.
- An owner. Someone on your team should review conversations, correct mistakes and decide what to change.
- A handover rule. Define when the AI passes a conversation to a person, and make sure a person actually picks it up.
- One success metric. Agree in advance what “working” means, so the decision to expand or stop is based on numbers.
Rules You Need to Know
Two sets of rules apply to most AI integrations in Cyprus.
GDPR. A chatbot or messaging bot that collects names, phone numbers or project details processes personal data. Your privacy policy should explain what is collected, why, how long it is kept, and whether any of it is used to train AI models.
The EU AI Act. Since 2 August 2026, Article 50 of the AI Act requires that people are told when they are interacting with an AI system, unless this is already obvious from the context. In practice, a chatbot should say that it is an AI assistant at the start of the conversation, not only in the legal notice. Breaches of this obligation can lead to fines of up to €15 million or 3% of worldwide annual turnover, whichever is higher.
This is a summary, not legal advice. If your use case involves sensitive decisions, such as credit, hiring or health, check the requirements with a lawyer before you build.

How to Measure Whether It Works
- Response time: how quickly a visitor or lead gets a first useful answer.
- Handled without a person: the share of conversations resolved without a handover.
- Qualified leads: how many conversations end with complete contact and project details.
- Errors: wrong or invented answers found during review.
Review these figures every month for the first three months. If they do not move, change the process or the source material before you change the tool.
Build or Buy
For a website assistant that answers from your own content, a ready-made service is often enough to start, and you can test the idea quickly. A custom integration makes sense when the AI has to work across several of your systems, such as a messenger, a CRM and an internal database, or when you need full control over where data goes. We cover that decision in our guide to custom software development in Cyprus. Larger organisations planning to run their own models can start with our article on enterprise LLM deployment.
Where to Start
Pick one process, prepare the material, launch a small version and measure it for a month. If you want help choosing the first use case or connecting AI to your website and CRM, tell us about your business. Our web development team builds these integrations.
